I had not mentioned that one of the big delays of the summer was the permitting issue. We had preliminary drawings submitted which were approved. Then once we submitted the final, the city inspector says “You cannot add volume to the house!” — though he neglected to mention it at all when we spoke about the preliminary drawings, so I assumed it was fine. I guess never assume especially with city government people! He wouldn’t take accountability for the oversight of course. So we had to go back and redesign and get final engineer drawings of the redesign. That basically took up most of June and July. And then the asbestos to wrap up August. So Christmas is what we are dreaming of at this point…
This image is the final redesign of the 2nd floor. 150 square feet sure made a difference. I am still happy we got to redesign regardless. Brand new house, still bigger that any condo downtown. So excited!
